GLORY TO BAROSSA! Barons of Barossa 50th Anniversary | Four New Barons Inducted
Courtney Ribbons, James March, Anson Mui, and Corinne Mui were inducted as Barons of Barossa during a special event hosted by the Barons of Barossa and attended by 100 guests at The Barossa Cellar on April 3.
Speaking at the event, Louisa Rose, Grand Master of the Barons, said, “These four people have each contributed so much to the Barossa.”
Courtney has been a lifelong volunteer, beginning her journey at just 15 years old. Actively involved in the region’s sporting sector, she continues to serve on committees and boards across various sectors of the Barossa.
James March is a lifelong Barossa resident, has dedicated himself to promoting the region’s wine and bolstering its global reputation through his roles at Barossa Australia.
Now with Rockford Wines, he continues to support the region via local sponsorships and advocacy on regional issues.
Anson Mui has focused on strengthening Barossa’s presence in Asia, collaborating closely with Barossa Australia. Currently serving as the region’s Asia Ambassador, he promotes Barossa in key Asian cities and develops market strategies for the region.
Corinne Mui has delivered Barossa Wine School courses in Hong Kong and China since 2013. She is an experienced international wine judge, she has appeared as a guest expert on television and radio programs in Hong Kong and China.
A Celebration of Barossa Excellence
The evening, titled “A Celebration of Barossa Excellence – Barons of Barossa Induction,” also featured the highly anticipated launch of the first vintage from the Heritage Shiraz Vineyard at The Barossa Cellar.
Louisa Rose, Grand Master of the Barons, also announced that the wine and vineyard will be named Ark Vineyard—a living legacy containing cuttings from 35 of Barossa’s most iconic 19th and 20th-century vineyards. These source vineyards represent some of the oldest Shiraz genetic material globally, encapsulating 175 years of Barossa winemaking heritage.
Louisa explained that upon picking up the first bottle, you might admire its beautiful label and think, “It is lighter than other bottles, and it’s smaller”—and you would be right. The Barons have intentionally bottled the wine in the lightest-weight bottles available. These bottles weigh only 350 grams, yet they are just as effective as heavier bottles for cellaring wine, and each contains the same volume of wine as traditional bottles.
The smaller, lighter design serves a greater purpose: significantly less energy is required to produce and transport these bottles, making them a more sustainable choice for the planet. “We hope you love the look and feel of the Ark Vineyard Shiraz as much as we know you will love the wine,” Louisa remarked, emphasizing the balance of elegance, functionality, and environmental responsibility embodied in the new packaging.
